This is true, but (imho) somewhat misleading. Consider RMI/JRMP and
RMI/IIOP.

They use the same interfaces. But one supports distributed garbage
collection and one doesn't. Which has a real impact on the server
side (for example, does unreferenced() get called ?).

Which means the people writing the server probably ought to take
into account exactly which implementation of RMI is being used.

Which means that some of the advantage of RMI being defined as a set
of interfaces is lost.
