Hi,

I'm a newcomer to EJB with the following question.

We are attempting to migrate our technology approach to use EJBs within a
three tier architecture - basically as a learning exercise, but hopefully in
one or two real systems. However we are not currently in a position to
spend money on a commercial EJB container product.

How close can one get to implementing an EJB style architecture with session
beans and entity beans without the need for a container/app server to run
them ? Is it after all just a set of design patterns with predefined method
signatures ?

For example it is possible to code up a CORBA style servant/server
application that follows the style of the CORBA POA without the orb and add
it to an at a later date when you want to make your server distributed.

The idea being that we can migrate our prototype single system software to a
real EJB environment at a later date with relative little change.

Thanks for any input.

Regards,

Shaun.
