All,
We're trying to convince our management that, for a proposed project
with an already fixed cost, EJB is the way to go. They're not arguing
with us about the technology -- that decision is pretty much up to us.
Rather, they're concerned about the cost. WebLogic would appear to
offer the best EJB implementation, but the licensing costs ($15,000 per
_processor_) may be too steep. WebSphere would appear to be much more
inexpensive (approx. $6,675 per _processor_), but we're concerned about
configuration hassles and lagging specification support. We've
actually done some work with WebLogic and it has good word of mouth
behind it. The only experience we have with IBM software is DB2 on
Windows NT and that was a nightmare (GPF's, etc.). If anyone has any
input to offer, it would be greatly appreciated.
Mike....
