Katherine,
I have one that is CORBA based if you are interested. The core algorithm was
donated by Jim Frentess who also frequents this cyber outpost... His version
is RMI based.
The CORBA implementation uses GemStone/J "shared activation" to achieve a
system singleton, so there would be some small work to do to use it in
another server.
