A good example of the need for an asynchronous transaction is when you have
a web application that needs to be available 7X24, but that application is
tied to a legacy backend that is unavailable (because of batch processing,
for instance) for a given time each day. Asynchronous transactions will
allow you to save activity that was generated by the web application during
"off" hours, and update the legacy system when the legacy system comes back
online.
