Hi,

a few days ago I posted a request for recommendations for suites of
EJB business components and people responded by sending links to
companies' websites. One thing that makes me curious is the fact that
I can't remember anyone saying that they have actually used stuff like
theorycenter's suite. Has anyone on this list been involved in building
an ecommerce application using component suites like theorycenter's?
I would like to hear some experiences, especially to what extend the
desired functionality could really be covered by the used component
suite(s). There are several studies (including at least two forrester
reports this year) stating that this (assembling specialized EJB
components from differen vendors) is (or will be) the best paradigm for
building flexible, evolving ecommerce websites, which seems to make
sense. Is this still science fiction or is anyone out there actually
doing this? The ideal solution would be to buy one-to-one marketing EJBs
from one vendor, catalog management EJBs from another and order
management and ERP-Integration from yet another and it would all work
together seamlessly (some glue coding tolerated). At the moment I can't
imagine how that might work in reality but maybe someone can help my
limited mind by giving examples where this is actually done.

Thanks,

Robert
