You may have already thought of this, but...  Are the Web server from
which you download the applet and the WebLogic server in which the
target EJB resides on the same machine?  If not, the applet "call home"
restriction will get you.  To get around this you have to use signed
applets or a TCP/IP relay.  IBM has a very easy to use one at
www.alphaworks.ibm.com called Attachlet.
