The ideal solution would be to use a standard aproach. There's a proposal
for a logging API in Java, you can check it at
http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/jsr_047_log.html
but I suppose you can't wait until a standard API is released. Until then I
think the best solution is the one given by Tim
