Hi,
        Yes you can subclass a bean . But it raises a lot of issues that you have to 
take care of like :
If you have defined a finder method in BMP, then in the derived class you have to 
match the method signature . this means you even have to use the same primary class as 
return value.
Also a HI should return the same RI in life cycle methods in super class and derived 
class.
You can use inheritance in EJBs to share common code, but before that you have to 
consider these various issues and consider if it is worth doing it. If there is some 
common code to be shared then it is better to use Adapter classes
