The real test is to see the J2EE compliant "Java Pet Store Demo" working on
Orion's latest release can we have some solid documentation guys

For example does Orion have a nice GUI deployment tool just like the J2EE
reference implementation.

When I "see" an .ear file ported from one application server to another
"seamlessly" then I will believe the vendor independence promise

Lets see some solid evidence :)

Subject: Ann: Orion Application Server 0.9.0 released with full J2EE
support

We are proud to announce the availability of Orion 0.9.0.

This version provides an implementation of the full Java 2 Enterprise
Edition specification. This makes it the first commercially available full
implementation of the J2EE specification.

Although we have yet to agree with Sun Microsystems on the terms of J2EE
licensing so we can not call it J2EE compliant and this is one of the
reasons for us not calling it Orion 1.0.

Except for this the new version also includes many bugfixes and performance
enhancements as well as new features:

* Complex OR-mappings for CMP Entity beans (including Collection, Set, List,
Map mappings)
* Automatic deployment of Enterprise application archives (.ear files) and
application hotswap.
* Simplified SSL configuration and native SSL support with certificate-based
client authorization.
* Simplified XML configuration file formats.
* HTTP tunneling for RMI (for firewalls)

As of now it is available for download and purchase.

You can download a full version at http://www.orionserver.com

Magnus Stenman and Karl Avedal
