EJB IS an Open architecture.
The 1.1 specification specifies mapping for CORBA so CORBA client can
access beans.
There is a lot of EJB servers that are written on top of CORBA
(WebLogic Enterprise, Inprise Application Server and many others). They
enable you to access bean using CORBA and also to write beans in other
languages.
Also the CORBA Component Specification is a superset of EJB.
