We are researching and evaluating application servers. We already
have an inventory of existing applications that consist of servlets
accessing RMI objects. No JSP's are used. We also have applications
currently under development, also servlet ==> RMI (no JSP), that will be
deployed before an application server is rolled out. So no EJB and no
JSP for a while.

I have the following questions:

1) We plan on being able host any existing servlet/RMI applications in the
application server. Are there any common issues with this? Do the various
products support this differently?

2) What design guidelines can be followed now for the applications under
developement that would ease the transition to J2EE, i.e. converting
RMI objects to EJB's and taking advantage of JSP's for the user interface.

Thanks,

Gary Helfenberger
