there was mention of using EJB to do parallel processing today on the list in
the "thread" thread, and I though I'd just chime in.

I would never use EJB to do parallel processing. That's not what it's meant
for. It's meant for "information systems", however you want to define that.

Doing scientific calculations inherently involves thread creations,
synchronization (mutexes, read/write locks, barriers, etc),
synchronous/asynchronous messaging, etc. These are not things that EJB
is meant to handle well.
