For GemStone/J we provide a Session Bean wrapper that provides this (it's an
open source goodie so you can vary the implementation).
Failover of the entity bean is achieved since the underlying dbms is used
per transaction. The only hole is if you start transactions at the client,
but that is a bad idea anyway.
