This is certainly possible and there shouldn't be any problems.
Just take care that IE retains the session data (in some form, don't know
exactly how) and if one try to open another session from the same window,
then the earlier session becomes invalid.
If you open another window from the same window, using CTRL-N, then also
this problem persists. But is one opens another instance of iexplore.exe
then there is no problem.
I hope I have conveyed the situation correctly.
if some one can explain this behaviour of IE, pls do.
