Well said! :)
Fine for smaller services / corp. intranets etc. Appologies.
I'm faced with architecting an "eBay, Amazon" sized service.
Multiple servers around the country, additional farms of servers
at several central locations. If CMP where to be considered we'd
need the persistence layer to handle entity state replication between
AppServer instances includind with transactional state et al. So far
it's the O/R big guys like TOPlink etc who offer this architecture.
Issue with some EJB Vendors: replicated Entities that have exclusive
use of state are a problem for some EJB + O/R combos. ...err it's
a contradiction so to speak: replicated (clustered and distributed)
exclusive use Entity EJB's.
The problem is scaling and capacity based designs to handle 100k's
concurrent customers doing Use cases that require short latencies to
every few second BOM events. Many of our Entities are read 99.99% of
the time, so why make them shared Entities, but we need replicated,
clustered Entities for scaling and capacity. TOPlink claims to
solve this problem ???
Any experiences? I.E. with weblogic 5.x and replicated exclusive
Entities?
Thanks,
curt
