If your application takes data from a client on the business
requirements for task dependencies and scheduling, and outputs
schedules either to the client or to a database, it might be a good
candidate for implementation using EJB technology for a reliable
execution environment.

If you actually need to start and manage tasks that are
asynchronous or need to be launched at some time in the future,
this is not a typical candidate project for Enterprise Javabeans.
You would need to rely on vendor extensions or other technologies.

Inheritance in CORBA objects would not prevent their porting to
EJBs. Although there is no component inheritance defined in the
specification, there are ways to get the effects you would be
looking for. I suggest you search on "inheritance" in the archives of
this list.
