Hi,

The Inprise Application Server has a 60-day evaluation
downloadable off their website (www.inprise.com) and that
was easy to install and experiment with on my Linux box.
They also mention that their JBuilder IDE can be used for
building/debugging EJBs but I haven't tried that myself ..

There are pure-Java implementations like JOnAS (open source)
that should work on Linux . Check out this page for
a list of servers if you want to get more information
on which ones are free etc.
