if it helps, this is what I do. Beans publish XML/JMS log messages. A console
application outside the EJB container subscribes to the "log" topic and appends
the log messages to a file. This could be used for remote monitoring of an
installation, for example.
The code I use for doing this is Open Source at
http://www.simscomputing.com/products/etk/
The online manual is a little out of date but the online JavaDocs are fresh.
