I have a question regarding RMI and RMI/IIOP as they pertain to EJB.

I am interested in the restrictions imposed on the EJB developer by the
Specifications. For instance, the EJB Specification 1.0 states that all
remote interfaces must adhere to Java RMI. Likewise, the 1.1 specification
states that all remote interfaces must adhere to RMI/IIOP.

What exactly constitutes a valid type as a parameter or return value
according to RMI and RMI/IIOP? It seems that if you are not worried about
having a non-Java client, then any Java class which is in both the Client's
and the Server's classpath is valid. Is this true?

Thanks,

James
