Hi,

Most of the EJB servers follows J2EE standard, that includes JSP/Servlet.
All the EJB server suite bundled with a HTTP server(webcontainer) either it
could be used for implementing the real application or mainly for testing
purspose. In some servers the webcontainer could start seperately for
testing the web applications. One factor can be considered seriously while
evaluating an EJB server , the server should be pluged-into popular
webengines available in the market.

Hi, everyone:

>From my understanding of EJB, servlet/jsp accessing is just one of several
possible EJB clients in addition to java application and applet. However,
when I evaluated the EJB servers available, most of them include the
servlet
and jsp functions. Some even add an embedded web server. Although it's
still
possible to access the EJBs from my own web/servlet server, it's not quite
ideal running two web/servlet servers in my system. One more server running
would add the complexity, maintaining effort, loading burden and security
risk of my system. Trying to disable the unnecessary server is a pretty
time-consuming job because of the lack of documentation about this.

My question is: Is it necessary to tightly couple the web/servlet server to
the ejb server? Is this tight coupling from J2EE spec? Can somebody tell me
is there pure EJB servers in the market?

Thanks!

Sean
