Not quite with you here. We at jBoss actually want you to download and
reuse our intellectual property. Heck, even sell it if you want (Now, if
someone actually buys it is another matter since it's freely available).
As long as you abide by the GPL license (i.e. any modifications must be
brought back to the jBoss community), we're happy. If you make a CD and
sell jBoss, fine. If you make an EJB app and bundle jBoss with it, fine.
If you start an ASP hosting service using jBoss (which Telkel will do),
fine. Whatever. We would be happy if you do this.

Of course we would be *thrilled* if you not only use the software, but
also start making modifications to it, which are then integrated with
the server.

And this is what's happening right now: because of the modular
architecture (a la Linux 2.0) we have many subprojects starting up to
develop various plugins for jBoss. I just got 2 different SOAP plugins
submitted to me for example, allowing SOAP calls to be handled by EJB's.

I can't comment on the details here just yet. There will be official
announcements soon. But yes, we will make lots of money. I wouldn't be
here otherwise.

It's because they don't have a solid business plan. You need to
understand OpenSource in order to make a good business plan around it.
And that's hard to do, since not that many are doing it just yet. Our
edge is that we started as OpenSource, and not the other way round. We
eat OpenSource concepts for lunch. We attack it from techological,
philosophical and business point of views, and now have a very good idea
about what the beast looks like. Now we will domesticate it :-)

I can't comment on that :-) But they're very enthusiastic :-) (fun
detail: we actually had BEA people at J1 asking us if they could
invest... no names..)

If you've got a good business plan, yes.
