Hi,

I have design that needs to put a small customer profile object into
a naming service for validation and storage of a small amount of profile
data per customer for 1M to 20M customers.

Classicaly this would be an LDAP DB solution. I.E. Netscape's directory
server v4.x, or ???

But has anyone used their EJB Appserver's naming service, assuming it's
not LDAP underneath to store 1M-20M objects?

I'm looking at Appserver vendors that support clustered instances over many
physical boxes and the name service provides under the covers replication
of inserts/updates across all boxes of these 1M-20M objects.

This would be a great feature, saving the buying, hastle, design of an LDAP
Netscape schema and care/feeding of yet another DB in the system.

I also need persistance of the name space, a feature that not many appserver
offer since there's no value in a persisted IOR/Handle reference, this is
transient data. Where my 1M-20M is read mostly and needs persisting.

Any thoughts?

thanks.

curt
