You could also weigh the pros and cons of using a CachedRowSet, which is
basically a disconnected ResultSet with cached data. The archives have a long
thread on this topic.
I prefer using the database for this type of data slicing rather than dealing
with the resource consumption issues. However, you could strike a balance
between caching a configurable number of max results and issuing multiple
database requests.
