Hi
A Runtime.exec() call starts a new process and I have done that from a
session bean deployed in WLS5.1. Now again remember all these security stuff
in valid for the classes which gets loaded through the ejbclassloader - so
if u do start a thread or process from a helper class which is not loaded by
the ejbclassloader then no restrictions of that kind are applied.

In the case of Weblogic this session bean was loaded by the ejbclassloader
but the container/classloader didnt crib. So I assume u can create processes
from beans as well as from helper classes.
cheers

Subject: Creating a new process from EJB - SUN, BEA, IBM please clarify.

Hi all

This mail is the result of another thread I had started.

I want to start a new process from within an EJB, which I beleive is not
allowed by the spec, for security reasons.

I need to know from some one in SUN and vendors like BEA, Inprise, IBM
etc., that if I can take the security risk and create a process from
within an EJB, are there any other implications?

I apologise if this is not the right forum to ask, but I hope one
understands this because my project here is at cross roads and we have
to decide on whether to go EJB way or not.

Any guidance would be greatly helpful.
