The new J2EE Connector archictecture is supposed to allow J2EE-legacy system
interaction. You can find stuff about it at
http://www.java.sun.com/j2ee/connector/. That might be better than, say
using BMP or writing C++ CORBA wrappers around legacy code and using
RMI-IIOP to talk to EJBs. Furthermore, migration might just become easier
with this.

There's a connector-interest group on the Sun listserv if you're interested.

The catch is the readiness of the techology just now. The vendor of the
particular legacy EIS (Enterprise Info Sys) has to provide the necessary
intergration. And the J2EE Connector architecture was just out out of the
JSR oven sometime back, but anyway....
