It would be a great idea to have an open source effort where we would be
focussing on building something like this. What's say?

We could, additionally, distribute it under the aegis of some open source
J2EE server. That would really increase usability and decrease the
development-related learning curve.

Of course, this *might* tie it down to the same licensing policy that the
J2EE server is distributed under.
