I'm using POET outside EJBs (just like you seem to do) - and i'm quite satisfied with 
it. I do not see why you have
concerns with performance and compatibility (due to POET!) when moving to an EJB 
architecture: when you persist your
data using POET and BMP and furthermore handle your transactions explicitly than your 
way of interacting with POET stays
exactly the same as it is now - and consequently there should be no issues of 
compatibility and also performance.

It is of course another issue entirely if you want CMP - does POET at all plug into 
common EJB containers/servers?
