A ejb Refence is the EJBObject (or reference to the EJBObject) while the
Handle is EJBObject.getHandle()... Here are some of the differences:

1) Handle is serializable.

2) Handle encapsulates the EJBHome and PrimaryKey. This means, combined
with the above attribute, you can get a handle, serialize it, shut down the
server, bring it back up, and the Handle.getEJBObject will bring you the
correct EJBObject

3) Because of the attribute described in #2, Handles are
non-server-specific. If you migrate your beans to a different server
(different IP address), your serialized handles will still work!

Subject: Deferrence between Handle and Reference w.r.t EJB

Hi,

I am not able grasp the difference between Handle and Reference. I had
understood both to be the same , but the EJB specification use these two
terms in different contexts.
Can anyone kindly help me understand what these two terms mean w.r.t EJB.

Thanks
vijay
