I was thinking from his original post that he was creating a
java.SQL.Connection on his client side and passing it into his EJBObject of
his session bean; at least that's what it sounds like he's doing... In this
case it would explain his ClassCasteException.

In most application servers as long as all beans execute within the same tx
they will all use the same physical connection. This "shared connection"
model is one way they manage the tx's without reverting to a 2PC
coordinator.
