i have a problem, hope there is someone with an answer to it! and thanks

Here is the problem..
I have an entity bean which has an object of a user defined class as a
field to be persisted. this user defined class implements
java.io.serializable. I am using weblogic 4.5.1 and the database is Oracle
8. While deploying i select this field as container managed. the datatype
of the corresponding column in the table is blob. but when the server is
being started, I get an error
"java.lang.Exception: Couldn't get ResultSetMetaData to look up field
types: java .sql.SQLException: ORA-03115: unsupported network datatype or
representation"
am I missing out something?
please help.
