Telekinesis Pty Ltd hereby invites applications to beta-test The RMI Proxy.
The RMI Proxy is a technology providing JRMP proxying through firewalls with
access control. For the first time, RMI over the Internet is made a practical
proposition. The RMI Proxy:
- eliminates the need for HTTP tunnelling
- supports multiple client-side firewall enclaves
- supports RMI *servers* behind one or more firewalls
- supports callbacks through firewalls
- supports JDK 1.2 and 1.3
- uses a minimal client & server API
- works through Raptor firewalls
- supports full access control based on the Java 2 Security Model
- provides firewall event logging
- requires no CGI scripts or servlets
[Users of HTTP Tunnelling--RMI/HTTP--will recognize that it does little of the
above.]
The first beta test period will run for 30 days from 18 December 2000.
Applicants will be *selected* for the first beta test. This may be followed by
a public beta test, depending on results, or by a final product release.
To apply to be a beta tester please e-mail a request to
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]. Please briefly detail your name,
position, title, company affiliation, intended uses, experience with RMI, and
an indication of your purchase intentions and requirements if any.
Beta-testers will be given access to a protected Web site from which
documentation will be accessible.
