Hi I am having a little trouble determining when ejb-references and links may be used. The spec states that they may be used to communicate between beans deployed in the same jar or in different jars "in the same J2EE application unit" What does it mean by a J2EE application unit? I have seen some material that seems to suggest that it might be the JVM - does this mean that ejb-ref/links cannot be used to reference beans in other JVMs and 'standard' JNDI must be used? What is the relationship between JVMs and containers? It it usual for each container to have its own JVM, or do all containers within an Appserver share one?
