In version 2.1, Flux remains lightweight yet adds several new features to provide more flexibility for scheduling within enterprise applications. "Job scheduling is an essential feature within cutting-edge enterprise systems," says David Sims, president of Sims Computing. "Flux continues to provide well-rounded functionality for the J2EE component market. We are proud to offer this new release as an amalgamation of user demand and the creativity of the Sims Computing team." Flux 2.1 is a Java software component that performs sophisticated job scheduling and job queuing for Java [TM] and Java 2 Enterprise Edition [TM] (J2EE) applications. Job scheduling is concerned with executing the correct task, on the correct day, and at the correct time. When deployed as a server-side component, Flux naturally integrates with J2EE applications. Flux 2.1 also includes queuing, scalability, holiday calendars, and an audit trail. Flux is application server and database independent. FEATURES The following features are just a few of the highlights in the Flux 2.1 release: Job Completed Listener * React to failed jobs and apply your custom job retry policy. Database Connection Retrieval * Flux can retrieve database connections from an application server's database connection pool. Flux can also create a database connection if provided JDBC driver information. Pause and Resume for Individual Queues * Flux queues can be paused and resumed individually. INTEGRATION Optionally, Flux integrates tightly with J2EE applications, including Enterprise JavaBeans and JMS messages. Flux is application server and database independent. Flux has been tested against Sybase EAServer, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Orion, and Allaire JRun application servers in addition to Sybase ASE and ASA, Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft, and Hypersonic SQL databases.
