Yes, Jonathan Weedon did write a post a while ago on

Running ECPerf, the performance difference using PbR and
PbV was less than 3% - at least for our AppServer which is
already optimized by:
    - using PbR as the default for in-process calls
    - if using PbV, we avoid unnecessary argument copying
      (say for primitives and immutable objects)
