So you're saying that in effect, there should be a certification
for VMs? This would make sense to me.

I owe IBM some retraction. Apparently (from the WAS newsgroup),
the VM they currently include with Websphere performs some level of
parallel optimization so that the container can take advantage of
multiprocessor systems.

The problem I was running into with IBM is that JNDI clients needed
to use the IBM VM so if you're deploying a product with Swing or Applets,
your customers need to install the IBM VM on every client.
However, someone has posted a plug-in on the developerworks site so
the client can function with the Sun VM.
