I designed a J2EE architecture that had:

single servlet instance -> single SLSB reference -> SLSB(s)

And it seemed to work fine (under WL 5.1/6.1);  although I don't know if this is against the spec.

Perhaps you can check if each thread-client creates its own SLSBean instance under your container.  If so, then you should be good.
