you might be able to, depending on the resources you have in mind.  what you should (tm) be doing, is say in a stateless session bean, put the "constructor code" in ejbCreate() instead.

Well....The EJB Constructor should always be called whenever an EJB instance is created irrespective of the specific EJB (J2EE) container. Otherwise it'll conflict with the standard behavior of a constructor and also the portability of the EJB code across different EJB containers.
