A couple of statements(I usually use IMHO, but this time 'round I'm
sure)

You cannot tamper with the file's last modified timestamp from java.
Hence, making a directory synchronizer is difficult in java.
Rsync has some problems with high latency networks. This would be the
case with Ramesh's problem.

I have a product almost finished that does this whilst remaining pure
java. However, it's on a closed beta so far.
