Why BMP?

Hi all,
Why do people use BMP when CMP is already there? Since container will reduce lots of persistance logic reqd in BMP.
I have a thinking that BMP is already obsolete (or you have better option of CMP) and CMP is the new technology (I am talking with respect to Weblogic) I don't know how much difficult it is set these beans with other App Servers.
Pl. put ur 2 cents in there.
