This was all useful information, some of which I've already read. Unfortunately, about the only real lead I got out of this was that one person had the same symptom I did, which was that the "init()" method was being called, but nothing else, even while logging in to the application. He ended up writing a "setParent()" method in his subclass, which apparently worked for him. In your reply to him, you indicated you didn't need that. I tried doing what I thought he said he did, but it just created other problems. It DID call the function, however, which gave me hope for a second. One aspect that confuses me a bit (lots) is the "namespace-access" element that goes in the "application.xml" file (the same one that contains the "<user-manager>" element). In some examples I've seen the "security-role-mapping" element with no attributes, and sometimes with a "name" attribute, and sometimes with the value of "<jndi-user-role>". Is there something that describes what's going on her, and what it really needs to be set to? I also noticed the reference to a "staleness" property for the DataSourceUserManager class, which I found documented absolutely nowhere. =========================================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body of the message "signoff EJB-INTEREST".
