hi,
after fiddling around a bit with alsa setup on my system (debian
testing) I could not get ekiga to access sound output while another
sound application is also running.
A few minutes ago I started up ffplay, mplayer, and amarok (using arts >
alsa ), all playing simultaneously through alsa without problem, so I
assume my sound card is capable of hardware mixing the sound streams
(integrated AC97 Audio on nvidia2 controller board).
I have also tried setting up dmix configuration in /etc/alsa/asound.conf
(and /etc/asound.conf, forgot which one was the right directory), as
follows:
> cat /etc/alsa/asound.conf
pcm.dsp0 {
type plug
slave.pcm "dmix"
}
ctl.mixer0 {
type hw
card 0
}
So, why is it that ekiga reports:
"Could not open audio channel for audio transmission"
when a call comes in while I listen to some music?
I am running asterisk on my home server (with a hard phone connected
over hfc-s isdn card), and I would really like to take calls at my
desktop PC so I won´t have to walk over to my other phone anymore.
Any help appreciated,
Thanks,
Sven Nielsen
