OK, I compiled that plugin for 3.1.0 by installing a libv4l-0.5.7
package and then re-building ptlib-2.6.0.
Now ekiga sees my camera. However
(1) if it receives a call from an ekiga 3.0.1 or 3.1.0 system it seg
faults and dies.
It also makes the complaints
** (ekiga:22591): CRITICAL **: gm_conf_get_string: assertion `key
/apps/ekiga/general/user_interface/main_window/size has no corresponding entry!
' failed
** (ekiga:22591): CRITICAL **: entry_get_bool: assertion `gmconf key
/apps/ekiga/general/nat/disable_stun is of type GM_CONF_BOOL' failed
I don't know if anyone who knows the code finds that particularly
revealing.
(2) If 3.1.0 places a call to a 3.0.1 system, it quickly shifts the
video from the remote camera, the local camera, and the ekiga icon
(i.e., what you see when not on a call if you are not displaying
any video).
This is similar to what I originally described, with the addition
of the icon.
Regrettably, 3.1.0 doesn't solve the problem, and, indeed, makes it a
bit worse.
I have to assume that there is some weird thing going on in my system
that none/few of you see. Is there anyone here (besides me) else
using it with
--disable-gnome --disable-gconf
Thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide.
Jim
