It's what I have done until a little ago. It's on my todo list :o)
I have finally created the package for non-free plugins which goes in
pair with debian official 3.6.1. You install it as before: aptitude
install libopal3.6.1-plugins-non-free, see

I must think about that. Does non-free have the necessary codecs, like
those from debian-multimedia?
