Same exact problem here. Running Xubuntu 64 bit ver 12.10. When I try to run ekiga, I get a system crash-even before I try to do anything.
Can't find ver 4.x in the software center, it still has ver 3.x. I've uninstalled ver 3.x using apt-get purge. Will try reinstalling. Great mailing list, ty to all who maintain it!
