At this point I have given up on Ekiga and found linphone, which actually has a version on the standard repos for both the Raspberry and Banana Pis. linphone *looks* like what I am looking for -- I want to build a VOIP phone based on a Raspberry Pi or Banana Pi. But thanks anyway...
