MY FRIEND'S PROBLEM
Subject: Persistent problem in Word
Anangaji,
I am still using using Word 2003, and frankly I don't want to upgrade, as I
have a major irritation factor with the 2007 edition.
But there is something in the old Word that irritates the hell out of me and
seems intractable, and causes periodic problems. That is the program keeps
thinking it's Arabic. I have absolutely no idea how the complex scripts gets
that idea, but as soon as I put in any formatting, the Arabic virus enters the
text. And, at any moment, when I am not looking, it will suddenly show a
garbled form and run right to left.
The only solution is to cut and paste and click on the clear formatting prompt. But even
then, it sometimes comes back. One reason may be that I was putting "Sanskrit"
as the language, even when the text was in transliteration. But I don't know why
Devanagari etc. are lumped in with right-to-left scripts.
Anyway, if you have any suggestions, this is really an irritating problem that
creeps into many of my GGM documents."
END OF MY FRIEND'S PROBLEM
