Hello I am currently getting to grips with bangla on the mac and am faced with a few issues that people here may be able to help me with.
PROBLEM 1: my bengali letters ya da shanya ra and dha shanya rha have a disturbing tendency to decompose as follows precomposed ontoshto yo 09DF; becomes onthoshto jo য plus nukta precomposed do shonyo ro 09DC; becomes ড plus nukta precomposed dho shonyo rho 09DD ; becomes ঢ plus nukta worse still the nukta is badly and inconsistently placed within gmail on safari. How can I avoid this happening? I am mostly using web based tools to create the text so lots of copying and pasting within safari into and out of gmail etc. is going on I don't seem to remember anything like this happening on the PC PROBLEM 2 I need to find a useful set of tools for the mac; simple text editor with excellent bugless character/glyph disp.lay/rendering, character map (like babelmap woud be good) and need recommedations. thanks Antony Brand Glastonbury, Somerset, UK
