Done. I also switched the name of the cluster and the S3 bucket. Leaving in place either of the clustring settings or the S3 bucket settings causes the startup problems. Could the problem be a mismatch between the EC2 plugin and the current ES...? Oh, and I'm using OpenJDK instead of Oracle Java. Is that a potential complication?
