As I mentioned in your other thread, you cannot change the similarity of a field dynamically. I would argue that we should be able to. If someone wants to shoot themselves in the foot, they should be able to. :)
Sounds like your issue is how to transfer your data and use a new mapping. I never used that plugin, but there seems to be an option to override the mapping in the master branch. If not, some of the other export/import tools might help. Never used anyone of them, so I cannot help much.
